Vegan Restaurants – Zurich Top 5

Vegan restaurants are popping up slowly in Zurich. After being vegan, I spend much more time in my kitchen: I love to cook from scratch! and I am not much a recipe follower type, I prefer to invent and experiment my own vegan dishes. From time to time, in special occasions or with friends, I like to go to a restaurant. This post is about my personal selection of top 5 vegan restaurants in Zurich. Vegan restaurants in Zurich – My top 5 choices

Marktküche

Category: Fine Cuisine Ambience: Casual Chic Service: Friendly and efficient Food: Excellent Price: High My tip: Plan very much ahead your visit to the number 1 in my vegan restaurants choices: Marketküche and make a reservation. It is very difficult to get a table!  Vegan Restaurants: Marktkueche Vegan Sushi - Photo Leda Nishino

Hammam Basar

Category: Mediterranean Ambience: Moroccan cozy Service: Friendly but slow Food: Very good Price: Average My tip: The big Mezze is a good option to share. Make sure to order the vegan version as they have a vegetarian (with goat cheese) as well. Easy to book , you can even try spontaneously to visit the Hammam Basar

Roots

Category: Take-away and “quick-food” Ambience: Good for a quick meal Service: Friendly Food: Good (my broccoli was too raw to my taste) Price: Mid to low My tip: The take away plastic cup  at Roots is biodegradable (made of corn starch). I did not get this correct info from an employee and ended up leaving without a drink.

Elle N Belle

Category: Casual Bar & Restaurant Ambience: Big and uncomplicated Service: Friendly but slow Food: Very good Price: Mid to high My tip: Quite busy place, therefore you should make a reservation. In my opinion it has a lack of personality. ElleNBelle

Villa Schönegg

Category: Bed & Breakfast plus Bistrô Ambience: Alternative cozy Service: Excellent Food: Not a vegan restaurant, but they are pleased to “veganize” something for you Price: High My tip: Villa Schönegg is not exactly in Zurich, but in Rüschlikon. If you get tired after your dinner, just get a room to overnight. Call before you go, because many times they are closed for private events.
